A Falconer's Journey: Stories from the Field

Celebrate World Falconry Day with Dr. Michele Losee, Raptor Ecologist, Master Falconer, and Executive Director of the International Raptor & Falconry Center.

Rather than a traditional lecture, this special presentation offers a behind-the-scenes look at the life of a modern falconer through photographs, videos and stories collected over more than two decades in the field. From training young birds to hunting with hawks and falcons, you'll gain an inside perspective on one of humanity's oldest partnerships with wildlife.

The presentation will conclude with an open question-and-answer session, giving you the opportunity to ask anything you've ever wanted to know about falconry, raptor training, conservation, hunting or living and working alongside birds of prey.

Joining the program will be Enedina, the Saker Falcon, and Lennox, the American Kestrel. Their presence will allow us to explore both traditional falconry and the practice of microfalconry, demonstrating how different species of falcons have adapted to different styles of hunting.

Whether you're simply curious about falconry or have dreamed of becoming a falconer yourself, this is your opportunity to discover the traditions, ethics, science and realities of one of the world's oldest wildlife practices.
